Some LG device will go straight to Android 4.4 KitKat
LG may skip Android 4.3 altogether with some of its devices. According to PhoneArena’s tipster, the Korean giant won’t bother with previous versions of the platform and will go straight to Android 4.4 with a number of phones, including the LG Optimus F3, Optimus F6, G Pad 8.3 tablet (Verizon’s model included), G Pro Lite, Optimus F7, Optimus L9 II, Optimus Vu II and Vu III, as well as two unannounced devices marked as LG-D315 and LG LS740.
On the downside though, the same source claims that the LG Optimus 4X HD won’t go beyond Android 4.1.2, which is kinda expected considering this model (powered NVIDIA Tegra 3 chip) was announced back in February 2012.
Of course, this is far from an official news and we’ll rather have to wait and see what pans out. Chances are there’s some merit in this rumor but we can’t be 100% certain until we get it officially from the horse’s mouth. And we hope to learn something about LG’s device update plans in the next month or so…
