Sharp Aquos mini SHL 24 is the world’s first smartphone with a 4.5-inch full HD screen

Sharp unveiled an awesome device in its home land of Japan. Called Aquos mini SHL 24, it is the world’s first smartphone with a 4.5-inch full HD screen. That’s right, the Japanese company managed to make a 4.5-inch IGZO display with 1920 x 1080 pixels resolution, making for a more pockatable look and feel.

In addition, the Aquos mini SHL 24 also comes with IP57-certified water resistant body, Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel rear camera with f/1.9 aperture, 16GB of internal storage, and a rather small 2,120mAh battery. Size wise, it measures 124 x 63 x 9.9 mm and has a weight of just 115 grams. Android 4.2 is running the show, though we guess further platform updates are in the pipeline.

Pretty impressive but, as that’s usually the case with some Japanese phones, they remain “stuck” to the Land of the rising Sun, never hitting store shelves in the West.

In the other Sharp news, the company has also unveiled the Aquos Pad SHT22, a 7-inch tablet with full HD IGZO screen, water resistant body, Snapdragon 800 SoC, 2GB of RAM, 13-megapixel camera and 16GB of expandable storage.
