Huawei Honor 6

You may’ve missed it, but the other day Huawei unveiled its latest flagship device, the Honor 6. While the name implies there were Honor 4 and Honor 5 devices, that is not the case; the Chinese firm wanted to have a device that “sounds” better than Samsung Galaxy S5 and iPhone 5S. Guess the extremely uninitiated will fall on this whereas the rest of us will take note of the marketing scam.

However, Huawei’s new device is not bad at all. In fact, it’s rather awesome, boasting top-notch specs and a sexy thin body. Inside, the company used its very own Kirin 920 octa-core SoC that relies on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture to include four fast Cortex-A15 and four battery-friendly Cortex-A7 cores. Said chip may even be faster than Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 805, or at least some tests suggest something of that sort.

Fast chip aside, with the Honor 6, users will also get a 5-inch full HD (1920 x 1080 pixels) screen that has a 2.86mm-thin bezel around. In comparison, the LG G2 has a 2.65 mm bezel. Moreover, let’s not forget full 3GB of RAM, Cat. 6 LTE connectivity, and 16 or 32 GB of expandable storage. Android 4.4.2 KitKat is running the show with Huawei’s Emotion UI singing on top.

Yes, this is one of the phones you’ll want to consider buying as soon as it’s out. That said, we’ve no idea when the Honor 6 will hit the Western hemisphere. Chances are it will start its life in China and eventually reach other markets. We’re sure Huawei is pitching major carriers as we speak but that doesn’t mean they [carriers] will necessarily agree to offer this device to their customers…
